Steeple Nursery School has been involved in a cross community project since 1992 with St Joseph's Nursery and Riverside Special School. This involved an extensive programme ranging from visits to each other's school, school trips together, art/ music projects, shared parent training/coffee mornings and staff training together. The relationships with St Joseph's has developed over the year, and we are now involved in an innovative Community Relations project.

Moving Forward Together
"Promoting good relations between children, young people and the wider community in the Antrim and Randalstown Area."

Overview

Moving Forward Together is a cross phase, sector and stage partnership between schools in the Antrim and Randalstown areas. The partnership was formed out of real and meaningful experiences of collaboration, community engagement, community relations and sharing. In March 2014, the partnership established a Steering Group to explore the possibilities and challenges of broader sharing between the schools.

Intentions:

•  To promote partnership, sharing and collaboration amongst school communities in the Antrim and Randalstown Area.
• To explore the roles of schools within the Antrim and Randalstown Area as Community Centres and Community Builders.
• To explore and develop area based approaches to Community Relations.

Strands:

• Education: pupil programmes, staff training, curriculum programmes and resources, extra curricular activities and events.
• Community: reaching out to communities, family engagement, inter-agency support and approaches, community events.
• Planning and Advocacy: Promoting sharing and collaboration in the area, one shared voice, access to funding for vision.
